Retired, home - a lakeside log cabin, in the middle of a central Finland forest

An omnivore, but more often than not I go vegetarian. Preserving, fermenting, ageing -"slow food". I like recipes that are precise. Follow a recipe to the dot, then you can choose to repeat or adapt.

Throughout this Pete's food blog, I refer also to recipes in Ottolenghi Flavour by Yotam Ottolenghi, Ixta Belfrage and Tara Wigley. The photos are of my own servings.

Although copyright laws are lax with regard to recipes, I respect the "intellectual property" of celebrity chefs and for this reason I shall not reproduce these recipes...just buy the book, it's the best investment I ever made in vegetarian cookery. I have included links where these recipes are available on the World Wide Web, however some phone browser security settings can prevent some of these from opening.

Weights and measures...

Finns use volumes for almost everything, if you go to the market you will see potatoes sold by the litre! 

1tsp = 5 ml

1tbl =15 ml

1 dl = 100 ml
